The Master Degree is organized in a system of credits (here appointed as CFU), which is based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Each credit is equivalent to 25 hours of total student workload (class time, individual study, exam preparation, practical work, etc.). A total of 60 credits, as better detailed below, are globally required in order to earn the Master Degree.
Basic courses (40 CFU) provide a common theoretical basis to students coming from different countries. Such activity is organized in 13 courses, for a total of 40 credits and a total of 400 hours of classes, including at least 100 hours of training / tutorials. Full list of courses and relative syllabus are given in the relevant section. The collaborative instruction with tutors (12 CFU) is got through two “Ateliers”. In every “Atelier”, students work out a project under the tutor supervision. This activity is aimed to verify the learning level deriving from the class activity. The students, working out the project, acquire the professional skill which is necessary to access in the job world. Students work in group, encouraging in this way both the exchanges among students and the formation of a school spirit. The atelier activities in fact will take place in common spaces, during every afternoon from Monday to Thursday in the second and third period. The Atelier activity covers 300 hours. Attendance is required. Seminars and short courses activity (2 CFU) will take place on Thursdays, Friday and Saturday morning, in the second and third period. Such activity will promote exchanges with the other Italian and foreign Universities. The seminars and short courses will deal with specific research and design subjects of the construction steelwork, and will be given mainly by professors coming from others universities, that have already expressed interest in participating to the Master activities. Individual study activity (6 CFU) is necessary to complete and verify the students’ preparation. This activity is carried out on a specific research topic. The student, under the guidance of a lecturer, will develop an assigned research topic and will have to demonstrate the knowledge acquired on the subject, as well as synthesis and presentation skill. Stages at industries and Universities partners of the Master are also possible for covering this activity. |
